Apprenticeship

Apprenticeship

As baby boomers begin to retire and growth continues across Maine, tremendous pressure is being put upon the construction industry to fill skilled positions in each and every building trade. Through our certified apprenticeship programs, you can learn the right way to build your community while at the same time building a stable and rewarding career.

Apprenticeships provide a path to the middle class

Apprentice training provides a path to the middle class for high school students and recent graduates, as well as for young workers. MSBCTC apprentice programs offer a great chance to earn and learn; participants receive wages and benefits while they learn skills on the job. You’ll feel added satisfaction from building the community where you live. And you won’t carry the burden of debt for college expenses. Apprentice training is college that pays you!

With a surge of construction in Maine, apprentice training at MSBCTC leads young workers to good paying jobs with benefits. MSBCTC works with developers, contractors, city governments and non-profits to continually increase the number of union opportunities in Maine so there will be future employment for apprentice graduates.

Compared to other high school graduates working as fast order cooks, for example, skilled union construction workers will earn as much as $1.6 million more over their lifetimes. And it all begins when you build together with MSBCTC. To take a look at the trades we represent across Maine, visit our affiliates page. For general questions, feel free to send us a note.
