Building Pathways Maine 2018
The purpose of Building Pathways Maine (BP-ME) is to prepare men and women to enter an apprenticeship program in the building and construction trades via the successful completion of a comprehensive multi-craft curriculum. Delivered in partnership with North America’s Building Trades Unions, the Maine State Building and Construction Trades Council’s BP-ME program endeavors to provide individuals with the knowledge they’ll need to make them attractive candidates for further education, training and gainful employment in the field of construction. Students who successfully complete the BP-ME training will be prepared for and offered an interview for direct entry with an affiliated labor union and business partner’s joint apprenticeship training program.
The nationally-recognized multi-craft core training can be tailored towards a wide range of learners. BP-ME is open to all and places special emphasis on young learners, mid-career adults, women, new mainers, people of color and veterans. Successfully training diverse candidates via the multi-craft curriculum will provide a two-fold benefit: training men and women so that they can forge ahead on a pathway to the middle class via a good job with benefits for them and their families; and working to help diversify the state’s workforce that can benefit from the richness of culture and experience that all of our neighbors bring to our society.
Developed and approved by the Building Trades National Apprenticeship and Training Committee in 2007, the Multi-Craft Core Curriculum (MC3) is a comprehensive apprenticeship readiness program that provides a gateway for community residents to gain access to registered apprenticeship programs. Recognized by the US Department of Labor, the curriculum is delivered by subject matter experts and guest presenters in the various fields of study, and can be tailored to fit a 3 week day-long, or 6 week part-time course. BP-ME consists of 120 hours of classroom and explorational learning. Topics covered include:

• Tools & Materials
• Basic Math
• Diversity Awareness
• Heritage of the American Worker
• Health & Safety (OSHA 10, CPR, First Aid, AED)
• Financial Responsibility
