They Make Things Better For Everyone.
As the AFL-CIO states on their website: “When working people come together, they make things better for everyone. Joining together in unions enables workers to negotiate for higher wages and benefits and improve conditions in the workplace. There are millions of union members in America from all walks of life. Union members work together toward workplace improvements, advocate for safer and healthier lives for working Americans, negotiate for fair wages and benefits, and ensure all employees have a voice in decision-making.
Some of the core issues that unions fight for are: social security and retirement funding, workplace health and safety, quality education and training, healthcare and the right to work, labor laws, gender equity, civil rights, trade and manufacturing. To read about all of these issues, click here.
